Andhra Pradesh has set in motion work on developing India’s first and only integrated quantum technology ecosystem—the Quantum Valley at Amaravati brightening the prospects in bringing several big players to Visakhapatnam, the largest city in the State, transforming it into a prominent IT destination.

Quantum computing initiative represents a bold leap toward technological supremacy and scientific leadership on a global scale. With this ambitious effort, AP is projected to be the first Indian state to build a full-stack quantum infrastructure, covering hardware, software, algorithms, materials, and talent development. This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with global technology leaders such as IBM, TCS and L&T.

"With the availability of super computers and mini computers and higher bandwidth at an affordable rate, Visakhapatnam is poised to become a leading rendezvous for investors in IT and the required ecosystem," Rushikonda IT Parks Association (RITPA) vice-president O. Naresh Kumar told Bizz Buzz. He said the city and its neighbourhood also have a good number of engineering and management institutes with a promising startup ecosystem.

While TCS has been offered by the State Government to launch its operations at Millennium Tower, Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) is set to launch its operations in leased premises in Visakhapatnam by June, 2026 with 500 employees.

Though TCS had signed MoU for taking the building of Dallas Tech Centre on lease, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh later offered space in Millennium Tower. The city has two Millennium Towers at posh Rushikonda. While Conduent is operating in parts of Tower A, the Tower B construction is ready for occupation.

Both TCS and Cognizant as anchor players have been allotted around 22 acres each at the cost of 99 paise per acre to send the right signal to major investors on the commitment to encourage mega investments with proactive measures.

Infosys has launched its operations at leased premises with the employment of few hundred techies. Official sources told Bizz Buzz that it is also being offered land and tax concessions to scale up its operations by developing a permanent technology centre.

Cognizant will invest Rs.1583 crore to employ 8,000 by the time it becomes fully operational.

TCS has committed an investment of Rs.1372 crore and provided 12,000 jobs. The sources said that the government is also in talks to bring 15 more companies to Visakhapatnam to make it a prominent tech hub.

Another prominent IT company Google has been promised 80 acres in the city. Google has already signed an MoU with Andhra Pradesh Government for setting up an AI data centre.

The Adani Group has recently received environmental clearance for establishing an integrated data centre park and an IT and business park at an estimated cost of Rs.21,844 crore.
